Technique Classes
(Ages 6 - 18)

Current class offerings are based on the following dance styles:

Classes are based on overall level of dancer's age, technique, ability to understand concepts, development of personal dance style, and more.  Dancers with experience in any style of dance will meet with an instructor to have an assessment completed for placement. 

Ballet

Ballet is a foundation to many other dance styles.  We believe in placing a focus on learning the proper technique that will help dancers with precision, fluidity, and grace.  Through the study of ballet dancers will develop strength, improve flexibility, enhance body alignment, and gain overall confidence in movement.

Ballet Class Levels - 

  • Beginning I (45 minute class) - for dancers that are new to ballet or have completed our Pre-School Level. Dancers will spend 1 year at this level at minimum.

  • Beginning II (45 minute class) - for dancers that have progressed from Beginning I.  Most dancers will spend 1-2 years at this level.

  • Intermediate I (60 minute class) - for dancers that have advanced from Beginning Levels I & II. Most dancers will spend 2-3 years at this level.

  • Intermediate II (60 minute class) - for dancers that have progress from Intermediate I.  Most dancers will spend 2-3 years at this level.

  • Advanced (60 minute class) - for dancers that have achieved progression through all levels. 

Ballet
Jazz

Jazz

Jazz is an exciting and ever-evolving dance form.  Dancers will experience and learn different styles of jazz  dance based on various musical genres and styles.  Classes are full of rhythm, sharp movements, passion, and life.  Our classes explore body isolations, encourage individual expression, and help dancers develop their own personal style. 

Jazz Class Levels - 

  • Beginning I (45 minute class) - for dancers that are new to jazz dance or have completed our Pre-School Level. Dancers will spend 1 year at this level at minimum.

  • Beginning II (45 minute class) - for dancers that have progressed from Beginning I.  Most dancers will spend 1-2 years at this level.

  • Intermediate I (60 minute class) - for dancers that have advanced from Beginning Levels I & II. Most dancers will spend 2-3 years at this level.

  • Intermediate II (60 minute class) - for dancers that have progress from Intermediate I.  Most dancers will spend 2-3 years at this level.

  • Advanced (60 minute class) - for dancers that have achieved progression through all levels. 

Specialty Jazz Classes - 

  • Jumps & Turns (45 minute class) Co-Requisite - Intermediate Jazz I or higher  - for dancers that have interest in advancing their skills in jumps and turns.

Tap

Tap is a style of dance that uses precise rhythmical patterns of foot movement. Derived from rhythmic foot stomping of African dances, our tap classes focus on timing, developing rhythmic patterns, technique and placement.  ​

Tap Class Levels - 

  • Beginning I (45 minute class) - for dancers that are new to tap dance or have completed our Pre-School Level. Dancers will spend 1 year at this level at minimum.

  • Beginning II (45 minute class) - for dancers that have progressed from Beginning I.  Most dancers will spend 1-2 years at this level.

  • Intermediate I (60 minute class) - for dancers that have advanced from Beginning Levels I & II. Most dancers will spend 2-3 years at this level.

  • Intermediate II (60 minute class) - for dancers that have progressed from Intermediate I.  Most dancers will spend 2-3 years at this level.

  • Advanced (60 minute class) - for dancers that have achieved progression through all levels.

Tap

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary stresses versatility and improvisation while striving to connect the mind and body through dance.

Co-Requesite - dancers taking contemporary classes are required to take a ballet or jazz class.

Contemporary Class Levels - 

  • Beginning  (45 minute class) - for dancers that are new to contemporary dance. Dancers will spend 1 year at this level at minimum.

  • Intermediate I (45 minute class) - for dancers that have advanced from Beginning Level. Most dancers will spend 2-3 years at this level.

  • Intermediate II (60 minute class) - for dancers that have progress from Intermediate I.  Most dancers will spend 2-3 years at this level.

  • Advanced (60 minute class) - for dancers that have achieved progression through all levels.

Contemporary
Hip-Hop

Hip-Hop

Hip-Hop is a broad collection of urban street dance styles including Breaking, Popping, Locking, Turfing, Jerkin and Krumping.  This style evolved from Hip-Hop culture and includes elements from Jazz, Rock, American and Latino dance cultures.  Our Hip-Hop classes involved fun energetic movements that are great for all dancers no matter ability.

Hip-Hop Class Levels - 

  • Junior (45 minute class) - for dancers ages 6 - 8.

  • Pre-Teen (45 minute class) - for dancers ages 9 - 11.

  • Teen (45 minute class) - for dancers ages 12 and up.

Acro

StarMaker uses the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus for all acro classes.  This syllabus is a comprehensive 12 level program for ages 3 and up.  Focusing on 5 main areas - strength, flexibility, balancing, limbering, and tumbling.  StarMaker combines multiple levels of the Acrobatic Arts into one class level.​

Acro Class Levels - 

  • Fundamental (45 minute class) - for students that are new to acro or have completed our Pre-School Level. Acrobatic Arts Levels 1 - 5.

  • Intermediate (45 minute class) - for students that have progressed from Fundamental Acro.                         Acrobatic Arts Levels 6 - 12.

  • Advanced (60 minute class) - for students that have progressed from Intermediate Acro.                                  Acrobatic Arts Levels 7 - 12.

Specialty Acro Classes - 

  • Flexibility (45 minute class)  - for students that have interest in advancing their overall flexibility

  • Rising Star Acro (45 or 60 minute class) - class is by instructor invite only.

  • Back-Handsprings & Aerials (60 minute class) Co-Requisite - Rising Star II, Intermediate or Advanced Acro  - for students that have interest in enhancing skills to achieve back-handsprings and/or aerials.
